Dear mum and dad,
I haven't told you for a long time how much my sister and I appreciate the education and love you have always given to us. And I just want you to remind that I unconditionally love you, and I will always there for you.

You are responsable of my happy childhood memories. Thank you so much! I remember that the thing I loved the most was playing outdoors with my sister, Marina, despite our age difference. In our spare time we liked to run through the garden, act like models or dancers, walk with the dog, share secrets (I don´t remember one single occasion when Marina didn't keep one, she has always been my favourite confident)... As you know, we weren´t keen on doing very useful things at all!

Therefore, mum always told us that we moan too much abour homework, above all Maths exercises. We couldn't stand nunmbers. All we loved was spending time together, although we fell out too! But when we were angry, we ended up forgiving ourselves, and as the eldest sister I am, I slept over Marina's bunk to make sure she could have sweet dreams.

Dad always demanded high stantards; we had to study, read, learn... And that's great. Because of this we are at the University today. You can't imagine how thankful we are.

I love you more than words can describe.
Kisses, Paula.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a very well-known particularly American and Canadian holiday. The day is basically related with family reunion, watching American football, and having tons of food. It doesn’t have a specific date, as it is celebrated the second Monday of November in Canada, and the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.

It is based on old English tradition when families thanked God after the Harvest. In America, as I mentioned before, it is celebrated the fourth Thursday of November, although the real harvest time was way earlier. It was normally celebrated by English protestant believers, but it was also celebrated by catholic people. It’s a tradition here to, in thanksgiving dinner, eat a turkey, have a lot of beer, and spend the day with the family watching American Football, and it has become such a big tradition in America that even atheist families celebrate it as a family reunion.

How long will the gender violence take place?
A lot of women have suffered bullying since always, but unfortunately in the past it wasn't considered a bad thing. Nowadays this mentality still can be seen on many men. However we are so much more aware of this big problem. Now, everybody is keen on helping those women and not defending men as it used to be in the past. Despite the effort, violence against women is happening and the Goverment should give more importance to this situation.
